Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds have adjustable slats that are typically 3-1/2” wide. The “vanes” or "slats" hang vertically from an overhead horizontal track. The slats can be rotated to control the amount of light, angle of light and degree of privacy. Vertical blinds are available in a variety of materials including cloth, vinyl, metal, and even wood. Vertical blinds are offered in a wide range of quality, price and styles. Vertical blinds are a wonderful and affordable alternative for larger panoramic style windows.

Horizontal Blinds

Horizontal blinds are made of horizontal slats suspended one above the other. All of the slats can tilt in unison in either direction up to about 180 degrees. The slats can very in width from 1” to 2-1/2” or more, with 2” being the common size. Thin cords connected to the bottom run up through the slats allow the slats to be raised from the bottom-up. Horizontal blinds allow precise control over the amount of light and the angle of the light entering the room along with the degree of privacy. Blinds allow air to flow, depending on the degree of closure.

Horizontal Blinds Options:

• Faux Wood Blinds: Blinds that look like they are made of wood blinds but are actually man-made materials (polyvinyl and composites of poly and wood). Man-made materials do not nave a tendency to warp or crack.
  
  
• Cordless Lift Blinds: Some blinds are offered with counterbalancing “spring motors” in the head rail. This allows you to raise and lower the blind by simply moving the bottom rail by hand to the desired position. The counterbalancing spring motors will hold the blind at that position until moved to a new position.
  
  
• Routeless: Most horizontal blinds can be ordered “routeless”. This means the lift cords are wound around the ladders instead of through holes in the slats. This eliminates the pin-holes of light create by the holes in the slats and creates a darker room.
  
  
• Motorized Tilt: Some blinds are available with battery powered tilt motors and remote controls. This is a great feature for hard-to-reach blinds.
